MTSU Psychological Services Center
Ethical Decision-Making in Counseling:  A Practical Model

The Center offers in-person, online, and CD-based continuing education workshops and courses to professionals throughout the state of Tennessee and surrounding states.  The purpose of the "Ethical Decision-Making in Counseling:  A Practical Model" workshop and course is to educate participants about common ethical dilemmas which confront professional counselors and to teach a simple decision-making model to help them resolve these dilemmas.  Specifically, the objectives of this course are as follows:

1. To clarify and enhance one's understanding of the concept of ethics

2. To learn six moral principles which underlie ethical conduct

3. To learn a practical approach to ethical decision-making in counseling

Participants receive five (5) hours of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for completing the CD-based course and three (3) hours of CEUs for attending an in-person presentation.  Middle Tennessee State University is an approved provider of continuing education activities by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC)

Licensed Professional Counselors in Tennessee and 16 other states are required to obtain a minimum of three (3) hours of continuing education in ethics (5 hours in Georgia) every two years by the Board of Professional Counselors and Marital and Family Therapists (or equivalent boards), thus this CD should prove to be a convenient resource to these individuals.

The cost of the CD-based continuing education course (which includes a 20-item multiple-choice test) is $34.99.  Dr. Quarto is available to come to mental health agencies to conduct in-person presentations so mental health staff can complete their continuing education requirements simultaneously - please call for details.  All proceeds go to support Center operations.  If you who are interested in purchasing the CD, then please download, print and complete the attached form (saved as an Adobe/.pdf document) and mail it to the Center with your payment.
