Clinical Supervision
Counselor educators
understand the importance of
the supervisor's role in the
professional development of
graduate students. As
emerging professionals,
students rely on their
supervisors to help them
develop the skills necessary
to provide top-notch
counseling services to the
public. Dr. Quarto provides
workshops to area school
counselors and agency
personnel on conducting
clinical supervision. In
his "Solution-Focused
Supervision in a
Developmental Framework"
workshop, Dr. Quarto
stresses the importance of
assuming different roles as
a supervisor depending on
the developmental level of
the supervisee and utilizing
techniques from the
solution-focused counseling
approach to aid in the
supervisee's skill
development. Licensed
professional counselors are
encouraged to receive
continuing education in
clinical supervision in
order to provide
high-quality supervision
services to LPC candidates.
The objectives of this
workshop are as follows:
1. To learn the three
stages of counselor
development and the
characteristics of
counselors at each stage.
2. To learn supervisory
roles that can implemented
with counselors at different
stages of development.
3. To learn specific
solution-focused techniques
that can be used in
supervision to aid in the
growth and development of
supervisees.
One and three-hour
presentations are available.
