The MTSU Psychological
Services Center (the
"Center") is a
not-for-profit training
facility
of the
Department of Psychology
at Middle Tennessee State
University. The Center
is staffed by master's
degree students who are
completing their training
requirements under the
supervision of the
Professional Counseling
faculty.

The mission of the Center
is to:
- Provide supervised
training experiences to
Professional Counseling
graduate students,
- Serve as a
professional counseling
and educational resource
to residents and
professionals of
Murfreesboro and
surrounding communities,
and
- Conduct research
aimed at increasing
one's understanding of
psychological phenomena
and promoting optimal
mental health.
Faculty in the the
Professional Counseling
program train graduate
students to work with
children, adolescents,
parents and school
personnel. Counseling
services are geared to help
community residents resolve
emotional and behavioral
problems that are creating
difficulties at home and
school.
Educational services are
an important component
of the Center's mission
and are
designed to provide
information to improve
parent effectiveness and
promote family harmony.
Continuing education
opportunities are also
available through the
Center aimed at
improving the quality of
services offered by
mental health
professionals locally
and nationwide.
